Twenty years ago, American cinemas were rocked by one of the best overall years in movie history. Legends Podcast has celebrated the Legends of ‘99 all year long, and now we’re wrapping up with our most favorite films of the year.
Finally, Lobster brings our celebration of ‘99 to its natural conclusion. There were many fine films of 1999, but the years have dimmed the luster of some of the year’s top contenders. And though many films of ‘99 are still beloved by audiences, very few have seen their legend grow over the two decades since their release the way this film’s legend has. There were many fine films of 1999, but none finer than Galaxy Quest. Released on Christmas Day, the film, which came out of a troubled production for DreamWorks Studios, flew under box office radar, but earned praise from critics and audiences alike, and secured an enduring legacy as what George Takei called “a chillingly realistic documentary.” Now, MovieDude Eric joins Beef, Wing, and Lobster to take on the final Legend of ‘99. Never give up, never surrender!
